TEAM HU-FRIEDY® SHINES THROUGH THE MOTHER'S DAY RAIN IN CHICAGO
RAISING OVER $20,000 FOR Y-ME NATIONAL BREAST CANCER ORGANIZATION!
Mother's Day morning was wet and windy in Chicago, but that didn't stop Team Hu-Friedy from crossing the finish line in support of Y-ME National Breast Cancer. The rain may have kept some away, but dedicated members of the Hu-Friedy Team wore smiles that brightened the gray morning. The team took cover under the festive Hu-Friedy tent and shared in raffle fun, breakfast treats, and lots of laughter. The team had a lot to celebrate after raising over $22,000 in donations with help from other Hu-Friedy teams across the country.
Hu-Friedy pledged to continue their 2nd year of support for the Y-ME Race to Empower by establishing teams other Y-ME race cities across the country including Atlanta, Denver, Miami, New Haven, Sacramento, San Diego, and Washington DC.
Teams of dental organizations and partners also joined together under the Hu-Friedy name in many of the race cities including representation from the American Association of Women Dentists, ""Modern Hygienist"" Magazine, and individual members of the Friends of Hu-Friedy online dental hygiene community. A special Hu-Friedy race t-shirt was designed and worm by all the Hu-Friedy team members across the country.
The Y-ME organization also made an important announcement at the race - the organization will now be called the Breast Cancer Network of Strength to better communicate their mission of peer support, information and empowerment. An exciting new logo and branding message was revealed.
Congratulations to all those who ran, walked, donated, and volunteered. Team Hu-Friedy and the Breast Cancer Network of Strength sincerely appreciate the support.
We have been receiving reports back from our Hu-Friedy Teams across the country on their successful Mother's Day Y-ME Walks.

-The Washington D.C. team led by Mary Littleton and Helen Sellard brought in $1000. The weather was cool and overcast, but perfect for their 3 mile walk around the Washington Memorials - starting on the Washington Mall and passing by the Smithsonian Institute, the Washington Monument, the Tidal Basin and some even paused to climb the steps of the Jefferson Memorial!

-Our New Haven, CT team led by Hu-Friedy Thought Leader, Claudia Turcotte did an amazing job raising over $3500 in donations. The New Haven team was lucky in their weather with sunshine and mild tempatures, making the morning all that more enjoyable in celebrating all of their hard fundraising work.

-Congratulations to the San Diego team led by the president of the American Association of Women Dentist, Lilia Larin. Their partnership and support of Team Hu-Friedy was wonderful, bringing in over $1000 in donations. Just goes to show you what joining forces can do for a wonderful cause!
