Introducing Mary Littleton, RDH - Southeast School Sales Manager

How long have you been with Hu-Friedy?
Started December 2, 1996 (over 11 years)
How did your transition from hygienist to dental industry professional take place?
I graduated in 1972 from Old Dominion University and practiced clinically for 13 years and loved it! In 1985 I was approached by a fellow colleague to interview for a pharmaceutical sales position with Mead Johnson Pharmaceuticals. I accepted the position with Mead Johnson and realized that I loved sales but I missed Dentistry, so after 3 years with Mead Johnson I moved into Dental Sales with Sullivan Dental. I loved being back in the dental arena and worked for Sullivan Dental for 10 years before starting with Hu-Friedy in 1996. I started as a RAM- Regional Account Manager calling on Dealers, Dental offices, Schools and Institutions. During that time I realized that I enjoyed calling on the schools and when Hu-Friedy dedicated a sales force to schools and institutions I requested to become a SIM- Schools and Institution Manager.

Is there anything you miss about being a practicing hygienist?

I miss my patients, they were like my family. In addition, I miss going home at 5pm. When I travel my follow-up and e-mails start at 5pm in the hotel.
